Our First Blog

Hi everyone,

This is my first foray into blogging. I hope to keep it fairly simple until I know what I am really doing, but I'm pretty excited about it.

Hey missioners, do you realize that from this exact time (January 24, 2010, at 5:02 p.m.) we have exactly 60 days, 19 hours, and twenty minutes until we are on the ground in Honduras!  I hope you are as excited as I am. We are going to have a wonderful mission trip to bring much needed clean water to the village of La Florida.

I'm also excited because we are going to have the opportunity to drive past the cross, dedicated to their sister Mary Ellen Kellen, that Mr. Seivert and Francis helped place into the ground in El Junco this past June. I have a feeling some of those same villagers will be helping us in La Florida during our water project.

If you know anyone who would like to keep track of us during our mission trip, please let them know this site. I will try to post updates every time something happens. However, remind them that the internet in Esquias is not always reliable so they should be patient.

I will see all of you soon at our upcoming meeting - Sunday, February 7, at 1 p.m., in Mr. Seivert's room at Gehlen. Seivert will pass along much useful information, and I will also be available to hand out my words of wisdom.

Don't forget our upcoming tailgate on Tuesday, February 2, at 5 - 8 p.m. We'll be serving delicious pork burgers, beans, chips, and a bar. Come with an appetite.

You will receive your bags soon so you can practice packing. Seivert will give you some information about that, but you can already refer to your packet to read about what you should pack.
