As I type this it is Friday shortly after noon and day 3 of our medical team in Honduras. I have just received a call from my brother Francis reporting on day 2 (Thursday). He and Angel Paz were in Acote getting some supplies (obviously we did not hear from them yesterday).
Francis indicated the first two days have gone very well and used all kinds of adjectives to describe the amazing experience they are all having. After the first two days our combined teams have seen a little over 700 patients. Dental has seen 140.
He once again talked about the large number of very malnourished children coming to clinic and his fear they would run out of vitamins before the end of the mission. I have told him that all three high school teams will meet the need and to make a promise to all families that we will come through.
He said the nutrition study has gone very well and Dr. Kemmer's students are amazing. He related how the base commander of Joint Task Force Bravo, along with the Director of USAID flew in by helicopter late this morning to review all things going on.
So far an amazing experience. I will report more from this blog as I receive further informationl.
